When I woke up this morning I knew exactly what I was going to blog about tonight but as usual things came up. Unexpected and wondrous things.
You see Sex, Murder And A Double Latte is now #8 on Barnes & Noble’s hardcover mysteries bestsellers list.
NUMBER 8 PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it gets better.
Let me start by telling you about Book Sense. Book Sense is kind of like a commercial lobbyist for all the independent bookstores in the country. By this I mean that they do marketing and promoting on the behalf of independents. They also help independents develop websites and so on and so forth. You would be hard pressed to find an independent bookseller that isn’t aware of and intimately acquainted with the organization.
Book Sense has named Sex, Murder And A Double Latte as one of their notable books!
This is a huge deal!!!! Sex, Murder And A Double Latte can be found in most Borders, Barnes & Nobles, Walmarts and Waldens but only in a handful of independents (with the exception of the independent mystery book stores that mostly have my novel in stock.)
After this that might change.
The effect this may have on orders and sales is potentially significant and I’m obviously thrilled about that but more than that I’m honored. Book Sense is a well respected organization. They don’t necessarily shun chick lit (as so many in the literary world do) but they don’t always sing its praises either. I’m thrilled that they feel my book is worthy of their notice, let alone their commendation.
And I’m honored by the support that all of you have provided me with. The reviews and media recommendations wouldn’t mean anything if you weren’t out there buying my book and telling your friends about it. I know I keep saying this but THANK YOU!
I have to go now. I just got back from a Shabbat dinner that was held at my friends Rachel and Doug Abrams’ house. Rachel coauthored (with Mantak Chia) her second nonfiction book and it has just been released. It’s titled: The Multi-Orgasmic Woman : Discover Your Full Desire, Pleasure, and Vitality and I obviously want to read it. Both she and her husband are wonderful, kind hearted people and they are both very devout Jews. I only bring that up because I don’t think that ‘devout Jew’ are words that pop into people’s heads when they hear the title of her book. But more on her and all that later---I have some very important reading to do.

Kyra- I finnished your book. It was fabulous. One of my favorite parts was when Sophie was telling her nephew the story. Too funny.
