Passion, Betrayal And Killer Highlights is in the chain bookstores!!! Today I saw it, proudly displayed on Borders front table. Part of me wants to drive into the middle of downtown, stand on the roof of my car with a megaphone and scream, “Please! Buy my book! My career depends on it!”
Of course I’m not going to do that (unless my publicist tells me I should). I do have one itsy-bitsy little request of all you blog readers. If you do decide to buy one or both of my current books and you end up liking them, do you mind recommending them to…well…every living human being you know? Is that a pathetic thing to ask? Probably, but now that I have a better sense of the fragility of any given author’s career I can’t help but feel a little nervous about my own. Yes, all the early signs point to success but the same could have been said about my last marriage.
But I’m not going to allow my fears to ruin what is truly a momentous event. Sophie Katz is back! I created a story in my head and now that story is in black and white and will be read by people all over North America! I’m proud of myself and I’m humbled by the wonderful reviews and complimentary reader feedback that I’ve earned so far. If that’s not worthy of a celebratory Java Chip Espresso Frappuccino with extra whipped cream I don’t know what is!
Tune in tomorrow night to read Alina Adam's guest blog. It's interesting to say the least.

Too too cool! No, I would be doing the same thing. Ok, let me correct myself here. I WILL be doing the same thing when I finally publish my first book. As soon as I can FINISH my book. Ha!
YOU GO GIRL!
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I am a very busy mother with a full time job running a dialysis clinic. Needless to say my time is precious just like everyone else. A book must hold my interest or forget it. My mother recommended this book so I decided to give it a try. I fell in love with it. It reminds me of the Stephanie Plum novels. I'm off to buy the next one. Way to go. I just can't say enough about it.
What a great story! I just got an email from amazon letting me know that the books have shipped. I can't wait!
As for recommending your books, no problem! Last week, on Easter, two of my two Godsisters and I were lying in bed reading, discussing what books we'd be getting next. One in particular is an avid reader, so I'm sure she'll be picking up your book.
You all made my night! Thank you soooo much for all of your support! For me, reader feedback is even more uplifting than reviews and I'm not just saying that to butter you up. The reality is that I didn't write these books for the Washington Post book critic. I wrote them for you and if I've managed to entertain you and (hopefully) make you laugh then I've achieved my main objective. Thank you!
Shoegirl, You will finish your book. It's clear you have both the drive and the talent to make it happen.
Aww shucks thanks!
Guess what arrived this afternoon? Yup, that's right, my very own copy of your book!!! :)
Yea!!!!!! I hope you enjoy it Mon!
I LOVED IT!
I started it last night and only put it down because I really needed to get some sleep. I read it whenever I could throughout the day: during my breaks, while keeping an eye out for HGDG (hot gym doctor guy), and just now, during the drive home! Don't worry, I wasn't driving. :)
Now tell me, when's the next installment coming out? In case you're interested in reader feedback, I'd be more than happy to read an advance copy. ;)
Quick question: who do you picture Anatoly as??? For some reason, I think of Matt Cedeno from Days of our lives...
Monica I can not tell you how glad I am to hear that you loved my latest book!!!!!!!!!!
I know that there are some great reviews that are coming out but as I've said before, I wrote the book for you and readers like you, not critics. Fact is, book reviewers and readers don't always see eye to eye. There have been lots of times when Publisher's Weekly has given a starred review to a book that has bombed in the sales department.
Plus I've noticed that some critics who were lukewarm about Sex, Murder And A Double Latte LOVE Passion, Betrayal And Killer Highlights which should thrill me but because I'm a nervous wreck I convinced myself that this would mean that those who loved Sex, Murder And A Double Latte would be lukewarm about Passion.
So thank you for easing all of my fears!
I'm working on the next Sophie book now and it'll be out next year but I have a separate book that's coming out in September too. As for Anatoly...geez, that's a toughie. I have this image in my head of what he looks like so it's hard to give that up in order to make him look like an existing actor. But let me think on it and I'll get back to you...
